Monkeys: Our Playful Friends (A2)
Monkeys are fascinating animals that live in many parts of the world. They are part of the primate family, which also includes apes and humans. There are over 260 species of monkeys, and they can be found in forests, mountains, and even grasslands.
Most monkeys are very social. They live in groups called troops. These troops can have many members, and they often work together to find food and stay safe from predators. Monkeys communicate with each other using sounds, gestures, and facial expressions. They can be very playful and love to swing from branch to branch in trees.
Monkeys eat a variety of foods. Their diet mainly includes fruits, leaves, nuts, and insects. Some monkeys, like the capuchin monkey, are very clever and can use tools to help them find food. For example, they can use sticks to get insects out of tree bark.
